Transnet Capital Projects (RME) Into Transnet Freight Rail
During a Transnet Restructuring Committee (TRC) Meeting held on 11 August 2011, Management presented to Labour the rational why TCP (RME) should be integrated into Transnet Freight Rail. UTATU objected to the integration as our view is that Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) should operate the running of trains whilst the Maintenance of the track should be the Responsibility of Transnet Capital Projects (TCP). We also enquired if employees from Transnet Capital Projects (TCP) would be employed on a full time basis and if the cancellation of any contracts would be placed on hold.
