Train Movement Agreement

Recently several meetings have been held between UTATU SARWHU and TFR Management regarding the progression of the Movement Agreement. UTATU SARWHU have been very upfront by contesting that our members have been prejudiced by Management who have not honoured the addendum to the initial agreement, that resulted in learning material not being available for members to progress beyond the 50th percentile in especially the C category.

Special Tre: NBC: Coach Business

Special Tre: NBC: Coach Business

Management called an Urgent Special National Business Committee Meeting with Labour on 30 October 2012 to discuss the Coach Business. During the Presentation Management indicated their client PRASA Rail has informed them that Coach rebuilds was no longer a necessity for them inline with them wanting new Coaches build as from 2013, that the current requirement is only for light repairs. The effect of this is that Transnet Rail Engineering finds itself with excess staff at the following Plants: - Koedoespoort and Durban.

Transnet Capital Projects (RME) Into Transnet Freight Rail

Transnet Capital Projects (RME) Into Transnet Freight Rail

During a Transnet Restructuring Committee (TRC) Meeting held on 11 August 2011, Management presented to Labour the rational why TCP (RME) should be integrated into Transnet Freight Rail. UTATU objected to the integration as our view is that Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) should operate the running of trains whilst the Maintenance of the track should be the Responsibility of Transnet Capital Projects (TCP). We also enquired if employees from Transnet Capital Projects (TCP) would be employed on a full time basis and if the cancellation of any contracts would be placed on hold.
