Weather Impact On Train Operation
We refer to the correspondence dated 26th of July 2011 wherein the management communicated the approach to the deal were employees who were trapped in their locomotives due to the severe weather conditions affecting the Kwa Zulu Natal province. The purpose of this letter is to inform union management of the steps that will be taken to deal with the impact of the poor Weather. Weather conditions have improved and management has developed an operational plan to revert the operations to normal. Management aim is to ensure that operations are returned to normal as soon as is reasonable possible, without compromising the safety of employees.

Extension Of The Collective Agreement In Respect Of Shift Work In Transnet Rail Engineering (TRE)
The Parties being Management and Labour (UTATU and SARWHU) met at the Bargaining Council on Monday 18 July 2011 to discuss the extention of the Shift Agreement. UTATU after obtaining a Mandate from its members thereby agreed to extend the Agreement for another year subject to certain conditions.
