NOTICE OF FACT

NOTICE OF FACT

The Facts: Yes, UTATU received a Notice. However the notice gives us another 30 days and we are of the opinion that we have met the required threshold and this is now a matter of contention. Secondly, Management in their Notice Letter confirms that a registered trade union that is part of a bargaining council, which we are automatically, has the right to stop order deductions and access to the work place. Thirdly, we are fully represented in all the other business units inclusive of Transnet National Ports Authority being 45% representivity. UTATU also works on a mandate of its members in al sphere whilst engaging with the company.

Discontinuation Of Travel Concession

Discontinuation Of Travel Concession

Transnet received on Monday 1 August 2011, a notice from PRASA advising of their intention to cancel travel concession entitlements on Metrorail and Shosholoza Meyl for all Transnet bargaining unit employees, effective 1 September 2011. Transnet is aware that many employees rely on this benefit, particularly the daily Metro Rail Services to get to and from work. The Transnet GCE has written to the PRASA CEO requesting PRASA to continue honouring the travel concession until such time that Transnet and PRASA are able to find a solution. Transnet management is taking the issue of the potential withdrawal of travel concessions very seriously and is doing everything possible to ensure that the travel concessions are reinstated.
