PRASA WAGE NEGOTIATIONS: 2017/2018 – STRIKE ACTION LOOMING

The United National Transport Union (UNTU) hereby call on all UNTU Trade Union Representatives (TURS) in terms of UNTU’S Constitution to obtain a mandate from UNTU members at their respective workplaces.

The final wage offer from the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) is a 6% salary increase with effect from 1 April 2017.

UNTU’s mandate from its membership is a 10% salary increase and:

  • a R700 medical allowance,
  • a R50 risk allowance,
  • an increase to R10 on the night shift allowance
  • an increase to R120 on the standby allowance per shift.
  • an increase to R50.00 on the “Book-off Allowance” per shift.

It is very important that the Trade Union Representatives arrange meetings with their members, where after the Branch must arrange a special meeting with their Trade Union Representatives to consolidate the mandate and thereafter forward the mandate of the Branch to UNTU Head Office viz: e-mail: headoffice@untu.co.za or fax 011 728 8258 before 16h00, Monday 24 April 2017.
