Mudalahothe, a loyal unionist for the past four years, managed to recruit 45 new members in the two weeks, earning him R5 000 in prize money.

“I am very proud to be the winner of this competition. My hard work paid off,” he says.

According to Mudalahothe he does not only focus on the Unions primary benefits such as collective bargaining and disciplinary assistance when recruiting members.

“I also tell new members about UNTU’s financial benefits, especially the death grant and the maternity benefit which pays a once off grant of R1 750 to mothers who have been loyal members of UNTU for more than a year.”

This father of two daughters who also provides for his father says he will use his prize money to spoil his family.

“They are always supporting me and encouraging me to walk the extra mile. I want to show them how much I appreciate their support,” he says.

The prize money is also an early Birthday present for Obert who will be turning 44 tomorrow.
