The United National Transport Union (UNTU) must sadly inform our Transnet members, more than 50% of employees working for Transnet, that the wannabe recognised Union, NUMSA, once again resorted to misleading them.
This time NUMSA declared a dispute at the Transnet Bargaining Council against Transnet for refusal to bargain with the Union and their alleged 7 412 members.
NUMSA states that its so-called members will be negatively implicated by the “shift patterns whilst both UNTU and SATAWU lost majority in many workplaces nationally.”
Dream on NUMSA.
Firstly, no agreement has been signed on any shift patterns in Transnet. UNTU adheres to the mandate of most of our members and they refused to accept the shift patterns.
Secondly UNTU has not lost any majority in any workplace – Quite the opposite. We constantly report to our members how we are growing. NUMSA’s latest attempt has been referred for Conciliation on 17 November 2017.
Meanwhile NUMSA must head back to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) with its tail between its legs as it was not able to prove its alleged 7 412 members to Transnet during the verification process.
