The United National Transport Union (UNTU) is aware of the various lies rival unions are spreading amongst members and non-members in pathetic attempts to discredit our proud union.
Let UNTU enlighten you with the facts:
- We are the MAJORITY union in Bombela, Transnet and PRASA and also the oldest trade union in the Transport Sector. Our founding date is 1905.
- We do not support any political organisation.
- We are not affiliated to any right wing of left wing groups.
- We are affiliated to the Federation of Unions of South Africa (FEDUSA) who is also non-political.
- We work hard to represent our diverse membership in whatever way we can.
- We are not a “whites only” trade union as 70% of our membership is Africans.
- We do collective bargaining, disciplinary assistance, legal assistance and give our members informed and professional advice.
- We are the trade union in South Africa who has over the years negotiated the best added benefits for our members, of all other trade unions in the country.
Next time you hear wannabe trade unions spreading lies about UNTU, ask them what they have done for their members so far:
UNTU took the Transnet Forced Leave issue to the Labour Court and won.
- UNTU is taking the PRASA 19 issues which are in dispute to the Labour Court.
- UNTU is taking PRASA to the High Court to force the employer to create a safe working environment and prevent the increasing criminal attacks.
- UNTU is taking Bombela to the Labour Court on the 5/6 days working hours.
