The United National Transport Union (UNTU) is striving to grow bigger and faster in 2021 than ever before and invite each Union member to join us in our quest.
Our target is to break through our 54% barrier as majority Union in Transnet, to grow beyond our 50% barrier as majority Union in the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa, to grow beyond 50% in the Railway Safety Regulator and in the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA).
To do this, UNTU must adjust its highly effective recruitment strategy to accommodate the new normal of the global Covid-19 pandemic.
As always, UNTU will not allow any obstacle to stand in our way of achieving our goal.
The most progressive Union in the transport industry will be empowering everyone in the workplace to recruit on our behalf while earning Mahala Money, the R100 canvassing fee for each permanent employee you recruit and R50 canvassing fee for each contract worker you recruit.
This will not be a difficult task. UNTU takes pride in providing excellent training for our Trade Union Representatives (TUR) in disciplinary assistance, while the Executive Council of the Union, the Full-time Trade Union Representatives, and the Secretariat handle’s the collective bargaining with employers and ensure that legal assistance is provided where needed in terms of the Constitution.
UNTU is also the Union in South Africa with the most comprehensive range of additional benefits included in the monthly contribution of our members.
UNTU believes anyone can recruit if given the right tools. Our team of Organisers nationwide is ready to assist any member who needs help in recruiting new members.
Each new member will get a free UNTU t-shirt and his or her membership card.
It is also of utmost importance to UNTU to continue serving our existing members to the best of our ability.
If you feel that your TUR is nowhere to be found and is not assisting you, please report the individual to your elected UNTU Branch leadership, Full-time Trade Union Representative or Executive Council Member.
For any further assistance or to be added to UNTU’s mailing list, please send an e-mail with your name, SAP number and contact details to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Besides our daily circular letters which inform our members of any developments in the Union, UNTU also celebrates our members on our three social media pages: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Please like or follow these pages if you want to stay abreast of Union related news.
You can decide if you want to receive our quarterly newspaper, Labour Report, electronically via e-mail or the printed edition via post. Indicate your preference by sending an e-mail to email@example.com.
Don’t delay. Start recruiting and earn your Mahala Money today.
