UNTU SUSPENDS RELATIONSHIP WITH CREDIT RESCUE

UNTU SUSPENDS RELATIONSHIP WITH CREDIT RESCUE

The United National Transport Union (UNTU) has been inundated with enquiries from our membership about phone calls and SMS-messages they have received over the last weeks from CREDIT RESCUE, a service provider who assist members to manage their debt.

In these messages and/or during the phone calls, UNTU’s members are led to believe that the campaign runs under the name of UNTUCares, the well-known official name of the Unions social outreach project for the past four years.

UNTU members are brought under the impression that UNTU is working in conjunction with Credit Rescue and/or is the underwriter of the assistance that the member will benefit from.

This is false as UNTU’s Constitution prohibits the Union from using membership money for this purpose and UNTU is not a registered financial service provider. UNTU is registered at the Register of Labour as a non-profit organisation.

UNTU’s trust relationship with its members is paramount and the Union will not allow our members to be exploited by individuals abusing their positions for their own agendas.

In the light of the above, UNTU suspend our service provider relationship with Credit Rescue until further notice. This matter will be referred to UNTU’s Executive Council to consider the way forward.

UNTU greetings,

SA Harris

GENERAL SECRETARY
